Nadal to return, but for how long?

Rafael Nadal to return

Rafael Nadal, one of the greatest tennis players in recent times, is getting ready for a comeback on the big courts. However, now Nadal admits that 2024 might be the last year in his career.

We all know already that Nadal will make his big return in Brisbane in the beginning of next year, but we can now read more updates on his injury and his thought ahead of the return.

Rafael Nadal hasn’t played a match since that dreadful match in the Australian Open last year when he got a nasty injury in his match against Mackenzie McDonald. Following a hip injury and a lot of training he has now been trying to get back to his top level.

Rafa’s thoughts on social media

On his social media channels, Nadal snow speaks about the fact that it was not clear wether he would return or not.

“Of course I have thought many times that it did not make sense to continue playing, that in the end there have been many years, many things, many hours of work in which I did not see the resultBut I still think that what I said in the last press conference, that I do not deserve to end my career in a press room.” Nadal said.

He continues;

“I think everyone has helped me decisively to be where I am today, which is with the option of returning to compete, and I think that also the desire of people who want to watch me play again has also been an important aspect”

2024 the last year of Nadal?

Later on Nadal talks about the fact that 2024 might be the last year of playing, as it’s very unclear how well his body will manage staying on the top level again.

“There are chances that it may only be half a year, there are possibilities that it may be a full year, there are possibilities that we may not be able to reach all that,” he explained.

It would be sad to see Nadal leave the tennis scene completely, as we already lost another legend in Roger Federer not long ago.

That would leave Novak Djokovic (currently in top form) as the last of the Big Three and we could see even more domination from the Serb in the near future.
